Last July 24-25, 2024, one hundred (100) teachers from the public schools of Zamboanga City attended an advocacy activity titled "Voices Against Trafficking in Person: Advocacy for World Day Against Trafficking in Person 2024."

During the two-day session, these Department of Education teachers were taught the salient features of Republic Act 9208, RA10364 and as further amended to R.A 11862, Republic Act 11930, modus operandi of trafficking in person (transit, Hotspot and conveyance of backdoor), understanding Trafficking victim-survivors (Push, Pull and Effect) and lastly the DSWD Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Person.

The event, spearheaded by the Zamboanga City Justice Zone with support from the European Union in the Philippines’ Governance in Justice programme (EU-GOJUST), is in line with the celebration of the World Day Against Trafficking with the theme "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking." This year's global campaign for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons urges accelerated action to end child trafficking. Children represent a significant proportion of trafficking victims worldwide, with girls being disproportionately affected.

The Zamboanga City Justice Zone warmly recognizes the vital roles played by the member agencies who shared their precious time, earnest efforts, and available resources to ensure the successful holding of the activity.

A Justice Zone (JZ) brings justice and law enforcement institutions together to work jointly on improving criminal justice at the local level. In Zamboanga City Justice Zone prosecutors, judges, and law enforcement are also teaming up with city authorities and CSOs to ensure that communities are protected against trafficking in person.
